Why We’re Only Listening to Acapella Right Now: The Three Weeks Playlist Series — No Instruments, Just Fire Harmonies

ree

If you're wondering why your Jewish music feed suddenly sounds different—here’s what’s going on.

During the Three Weeks, from the 17th of Tammuz through Tisha B’Av, we enter a period of national mourning. This stretch of time marks the destruction of both Holy Temples and is treated seriously in Jewish tradition. One of the customs is to refrain from live or recorded instrumental music. According to Chabad.org, the reason is simple: music, especially with instruments, brings joy—and during this time, we intentionally scale that back.

But here’s the thing. That doesn’t mean silence.

This is where acapella music comes in. No instruments. Just vocals. Layered, textured, and rich with soul. You still get the energy, just delivered in a more reflective, stripped-back way that respects the season.

We’ve put together two things to keep you going:

🎙 Our YouTube Mixtape SeriesExclusive blends. These aren’t just playlists. These are full acapella mixtapes—mixed, arranged, and designed to flow start to finish. Great for car rides, background vibes, or anytime you need something soulful that still hits.

🎧 Our Spotify Acapella PlaylistA handpicked list of top-tier Jewish acapella tracks. Perfect if you like to skip around and find what fits your mood.

So even without instruments, your soundtrack doesn’t have to stop. It just shifts into something with more intention.
